Fuel Supply & Evaporative Control System

Multi-Port Solenoid Fuel Injector Assembly

Electromagnetic pintle valve with a 4-hole atomizing nozzle disc that meters fuel in millisecond pulses directly at the intake port.

Role in the System

What This Assembly Is

Seated between the fuel rail cups and the six lower intake manifold ports are six Bosch/Ford EV1-style electromagnetic fuel injectors. Each injector is modeled with its full internal anatomy: top micron basket filter, stainless steel body, electromagnetic solenoid coil, return spring, precision armature/pintle needle, 4-hole laser-drilled orifice director plate, pintle protection cap, and upper/lower Viton O-rings.

Mechanics & Physics

How the Subcomponents Work Together

Millisecond Electromagnetic Metering: Normally, a calibrated coil spring plus 50 psi of fuel pressure holds the hardened pintle needle tightly against its conical seat. When the EEC-IV grounds the injector circuit for 2 to 15 milliseconds, current flows through the internal solenoid coil, creating a magnetic field that lifts the armature and pintle needle just ~0.15 mm off its seat. Pressurized fuel shoots past the seat and shears through four tiny laser-drilled holes in the bottom director disc, emerging as a fine conical mist aimed straight at the hot intake valve.
